Fault Lines by Volker Lankow

I created this sound to express the tension and threat I sometimes felt in connection with certain dangers I experienced in my humanitarian work.. Since ambient music is often based more on subtle changes, textures and atmosphere than on lyrics, I wanted to express these feelings through sound design and contrasts.
The unease of arriving in an uncertain context, the surroundings, the feeling of creeping, underlying mistrust.
The uncertainty, the feeling of insecurity
The moment of pressure – threats, restrictions, possible confrontations.
The calming down – silence, emotional aftermath.
I experienced these feelings during many assignments of my humanitarian work.
I hope I was able to express these feelings well with my kind of music.

Volker Lankow is a musician who lives in Berlin, who started in late 70s as percussionist,
over the years Volker dedicated his work entirely to Ambient and Drone Music, using mainly electronics and loops and ocasionally percussions, to develop his own vison of experimental sounds and drones.
