Unseen//Unheard by Unseen//Unheard

Heather Neueschwander and Rose Bishop are beyond excited to share the release of their new album, Unseen//Unheard, on Friday, September 26th! This is the first ever album devoted entirely to duets for alto flute and bass flute, all composed within the past three years and commissioned by one or both of them.

Unseen//Unheard features an extraordinary collection of pieces by ten visionary composers: Nicole Chamberlain, Timothy Hagen, Leanna Li Keith, Zachery Meier, Alyssa Mercedes Mena, Lisa Neher, Arturo Rodriguez, Sonya Leonore Stahl, Julie Stone, and Yoshi Weinberg. Each work brings a unique voice to the world of low flutes, expanding the repertoire in bold and beautiful ways.

They are honored to be releasing Unseen//Unheard through Strange Moon Records on Friday, September 26, 2025, and will be celebrating with an album release recital that evening at 7 PM at the James Theatre in Iowa City. This project was generously funded in full by the Art Project Grant from the Iowa Arts Council.

Join flutists Rose Bishop and Heather Neuenschwander for a compelling album of newly commissioned works written specifically for alto and bass flute. These pieces were commissioned as part of a larger commissioning and recording project that aimed to expand the repertoire for alto and bass flutes while also highlighting living composers who represent a diverse pool of ideas and backgrounds.
