A path revealed within a burning sky

A message billows from a looming eye

Forget your skin, your prized possessions, relinquish worth and time”
The gibbous bulb beckons the body
Romancing death, entranced by the void
The cold hands that had clung to surface
Clasping at cables, crawling through the noise
Basking in the pallid glow, the gleam of thy blade
Loveless and alone with the bulbs and wires
Throat primed for the sabre

And all the blades that bade this loveless life, this soul unbinding
Call upon an ancient wisdom
Clarity for this bleak existence
Solution seeping from a shattered vial
Elixir for the filth and bile
The boundless life that flanks these walls is only remnants of what came before it
The wires hold us like hands and cradles, and they carry us up to higher places
Only to fall further into a system that, while desolate, is mesmerising
A sickly dream or an ancient vision of how irrelevant and hopeless our cause is
