Lyrics
When I first touched a fiddle, I didn’t know where to start
It felt like I was handling a precious work of art
But then I found a class to take called “Fiddlin’ from Scratch”
I was extra motivated ‘cause my teacher was a catch
I had never done anything like this before
There ain’t no frets or markings on that fingerboard
But I just couldn’t wait to see what was in store
Now I’m a novice fiddler, and I’ll be fiddlin’ more
Before I learned to fiddle, I took sign language from scratch
I was extra motivated ‘cause my teacher was a catch
I had never done anything like this before
No way to write the vocab down or eavesdrop through a door
But I just couldn’t wait to see what was in store
Now I’m a novice signer, and I’ll be signin’ more
I love being in beginner’s mind, where learning feels like play
New skills arise in leaps and bounds, and I can go all day
I may never be an expert or doin’ it for pay
I love being in beginner’s mind, a place I long to stay
I’ve tried so many hobbies, but none of them have stuck
If I run out of hobbies, then I’ll be out of luck
I’ve run the calculation, if I live 50 more years
I’ll need 100 hobbies, and that brings up some fears
But I see people over 60 start new hobbies all the time
Could be acting, could be gardening, or writing things that rhyme
There are so many languages, I could never learn ‘em all
There will always be more classes where I’ll surely have a ball
I love being in beginner’s mind, where learning feels like play
New skills arise in leaps and bounds, and I can go all day
I may never be an expert or doin’ it for pay
I love being in beginner’s mind, a place I long to stay
I love being in beginner’s mind, where learning feels like play
New skills arise in leaps and bounds, and I can go all day
I may never be an expert or doin’ it for pay
I love being in beginner’s mind, a place I long to stay
I love being in beginner’s mind, a place I long to stay
