#68 - Reclamation by The Owl

Sounds that have existed for 14 years;
Images I've taken over the last 15 years;
Brought together and re-imagined to make 51 minutes of overwhelming, surprising, twisty noise / harsh / experimental / electronic / cut-up / collage / drone / dark flickering, brooding, immersive headphones recommended listening for those who like it intense.

'Reclamation' brings together sounds I've had from as far back as 2008, being worked on between December 2021 and March 1st 2022. Some were finished (at the time), nearly finished, promising good things but not quite making it to where they needed to be, but these pieces are now in their final form, individually and collectively on the album after extensive surgery to alter all of their sonic shapes.

Photos (cover, tracks, titles in the download) taken by me in Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen, Trutnov, Leeds, Reykjavík, Gothenburg, Shoreditch and Edinburgh, dating between 2006 and 2021.

I decided to use photos from my travels spread over a lot of years, and mostly of random art spotted on the street, as another way to prove that its worth being patient, but constantly thinking about how to utilise things you know, found, learned in the past. Some of them I had wanted to use for covers for years, but I thought I would tag on some strong imagery for each track.

I hope you will enjoy the audio, visual and story-time combination.

The original versions of:

- 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 were on an album called 'How My Mind Played Its Tricks On Me Today' under the guise Cerebral Constriction, released sometime in 2012 after a couple of years work and deliberation over releasing it. I have kept the titles the same or similar.

- 7 was called 'Surrounded by the Flames', from a project called Thesixhundred, and an album called 'This Infinite Loop' in 2016.

- 3 & 10 were originally from 2008, from the project Incandescence. I had a few dozen work in progress tracks that never got homes or names, but in the last year or so, I have started finding them good families to hang out with.

All tracks have had various levels of restoration work, mostly being taken apart and put back together again in different directions; with many more floors built on top of the good foundations of the originals.

Plenty more weird and wonderful noises to come!
