Vanitas by Jeremy Blake
Vanitas is a collection of stragglers begging for sustenance.
Stitched together from tattered rags, including samples from Eric Whitacre's choral works, various "guest" vocalists, and pieces of tapes sent back and forth by a family between Germany and the US many years ago.
It shares DNA with albums like WFANFC's Businessmen and Ghosts, UNKLE's Never, Never Land, and nods politely to artist like Junior Boys, Deru, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Purple Penguin, and Maps.
