MOGUNTIA by VOLO

A long time ago, the German city of Mainz was called "Moguntia", after nearly 500 years as a Roman settlement named "Mogontiacum", which was derived from the Celtic god "Mogon".
MOGUNTIA tells the story of Sofia Will's life in Mainz, where she first began studying music. It captures five years of emotions that were transformed into the music on this album. VOLO is a large ensemble formed by Sofia Will, alto saxophonist and composer, that unites the young jazz scenes of Cologne, Mainz, Basel, Stuttgart and Berlin. After winning the LOFT Cologne Recording project and the Jazzfest Bonn Sponsorship Award she joined the renowned Swiss label UNIT RECORDS to release VOLO's debut album MOGUNTIA.
