Heronbones by Ruth Hazleton

Heronbones is a collection of stories, both contemporary and traditional, told as much through an exploration of sound as through the lyrics themselves.

Drawing from deep wells of folklore and traditional song, these songs are imagined through a darkfolk lens - shaped by electronic sampling and sound design, alongside electric guitar, banjo, drums and expansive string arrangements.

Co-produced by Ruth Hazleton and Luke Plumb, this body of work interlaces stories of transformation, tragedy, struggle, defiance, and liberation.

Realising an artistic vision seeded many years ago, Heronbones does not simply revive tradition and storytelling - it interrogates it, reclaims it, and re-sounds it. A transformational, grounded, and powerfully contemporary folk release.
