Fall Fair
 
I don't remember as often as before
The tilt and whirl of the night
That fall fair near the reedy rivers end
But you were there
Out front weaving on your bike
Through families strolling with their
souvenirs and pastel parasols
 
Following you through a frosted lens
Straight along a narrow lane
I couldn't catch you
Always that little bit too far ahead
 
You paused
Waited once or twice
Waving cool hand dares
Then again off
Glancing back over your shoulder
Ice cream grins under your autumn tanned hair
 
Capturing me
With a wind blown kiss
That would end it all
I wandered far
I wondered
I'd gotten lost too early
Trailing a dot on the afternoon
Fair fall, fall
