Gender Reveal by Kate Dallat
An international melting pot featuring the old-fashioned ritualistic voice of the Greek Codeina, merged with the hybrid drums of KVDV and the strong, yet howling basslines of Micky, Kate Dallat serves as a manifesto of redundancy, fertility, and psychomagic. Besides the core members, the project also features various artists, including the voice of the young italian poetess Calypso.
Cosmic, infectious raw energy and subterranean tremors turn into looming sounds, mutilated percussive rhythms, variations and reprises, cascading electronics, and rich Zulu textures.
Like a sabbath in an ultramodern jungle, the Kate ensemble draws listeners into a layered synthetic cosmogony soaked in rituals of a hieratic atmosphere, liquid drones, and the magical folklore of southern Europe.
