Hope by Seán Ronayne

This is my second album of field recordings. But this one comes from a place of deep-rooted love, excitement, and hope.

This is dedicated to my daughter Laia. I write this, googly-eyed at 2:09am shortly ahead of her birth, doing my utmost to have this ready to go out, as this album will be/will have been released on the day she enters/has entered the world. As a nod to her mixed Catalan-Irish heritage, the recordings within also come from *both* of those places - the wild spaces of Catalunya and Ireland.

As in the previous album, every effort has been made to produce tracks free from anthropogenic (human-made) noise. However, traces may appear. I have chosen to let these rare instances through, rather than lose a track because of their minimal intrusion.

Hope is the theme, as this is what fuels me to do what I do - to sound record nature in order to share the beauty and awe of what we all need to love, cherish, and, stand up and fight for. Nature throughout the world needs us now more than ever.

Despite all of the challenges today's natural world faces, I still hope for a better, nature-filled future for my daughter and I’ll do my very best to make that happen for as long as I live.

I specialise in birds, but also have a keen love of natural soundscapes, and enjoy exploring below water with a hydrophone.

I love to bring the sounds of nature to those who find themselves unable to venture out for whatever reason.
