Family Selection Box returns with an album that both celebrates and commiserates an allotment. Inspired by both the freedom and the failure that comes with attempting to grow your own grub, Modern Gardening sees the band's classic kitchen sink lyricism mixed with a healthy dose of surreal humour, spoken word, guitar riffs, and wobbly synths. Like any good bumper crop, seeds for the album were sewn a while back, and slowly took form in various studios in Sheffield while songwriter Tom tinkered away with other projects.
Memory Shed gives us the first taste, out on August 22, with the rest of the album following in early September, just in time to soundtrack your local harvest festival.
