2008-2015 by GOTTHEIT

GOTTHEIT was the first and longest running solo project I've worked on. The first songs I recorded were heavily inspired by the electro-industrial and coldwave bands of the 80s and 90s. The influence of early industrial like Throbbing Gristle and NON can also be heard as well as the dark ambient soundscapes of Brighter Death Now. After 2012, the project became more experimental with different instruments, configurations and recording techniques being used on every release.

The years that I worked on this project were the most difficult years of my life and while there are moments of light scattered throughout the years GOTTHEIT was active, most of the tracks were consistently dark until around 2014 when I began to take on the synthwave sound that would be explored 3 years later with my next major project, M0BILE DEV1CE. The album tracks (1-57) on this discography are in chronological order. The first four tracks were recorded before I began using the GOTTHEIT name but I consider them to be the beginning of the project.

Beginning with track 58, my previously unreleased songs are also in chronological order beginning in 2010 and ending in 2015 with whatever old promotional art I could find.

In total, there are 65 songs on this release. I was 26 when I released the first GOTTHEIT album and this collection is being released 10 years later on my 36th birthday.

GOTTHEIT is the German word for deity. I picked the word "deity" because of the megalomaniacal mindset I found myself in while writing these songs and I used the German language because I was listening to WAT by Laibach when I started the project and thought it sounded better.
