Told through vivid, character-driven lyrics and immersive arrangements, it weaves strong prog-rock, indie-pop, and cinematic influences into one reflective whole.
Its songs unravel the quiet drama of ordinary people caught in extraordinary turns. There are eclectic hints of ’70s icons — Tull, Floyd, Bowie, even Vangelis — alongside later punk, new-wave, and college-rock textures, leaving an aftertaste of atmospheric introspection.
Mortal Coils feels like a diary set to tape: confessional, cinematic, and grounded in the kind of lived detail that makes reality sound like fiction, and fiction feel real.
