Soul Negation by CM Ensemble
Tracklist
Credits
released July 17, 2024
These tracks were extracted from releases on the CM Productions label between 1997 and 2001 in editions of 20 or less. The source albums include: Light and Dark Structure, One Hundred Winds, Gathered, Soul Transmission and Live, alongside a spattering of unreleased material. Tracks 8, 10 and 14 were composed by Nick Harte. During this era the brethren were honoured to receive the participation of Japanese alto saxophonist Soon Kim. He had moved to New York in the late 80s where he began studying with Ornette Coleman, whose teachings and influence upon Soon, and the group, persist until this day. The meaning of the ensembleβs initials were sworn to collective secrecy via a blood ritual, with any lapse notoriously resulting in a performerβs instant death.
Produced, engineered and remastered by Nick Harte. Originally mastered by Arnie Van Bussel.
