stay : reworked by Scott Grooves x Allysha Joy

One year since the release of Allysha Joy’s landmark album ‘The Making of Silk’ and we’re here to share two edits of the premiere single, ‘Stay’ by Detroit dance pioneer and a prolific artist in multiple regards, Scott Grooves.

Scott : "I first heard Stay last year on Lot Radio, and it caught me right away. I bought the record and even recommended it through my Bandcamp channel to my music neighbors. Around that time, I had a DJ date at Public Records with Hidden Spheres, and from time to time I like to create alternate versions of songs to weave into my sets. That’s how the After The Dance version came about — I played it as a prelude to the original, and it worked beautifully”

Allysha : “When Scott then came out to DJ in Narrm over the summer I reached out and invited him to the studio. We linked, ate some Thai Food, chatted music and then headed to our Brunswick spot for an afternoon of playing that stretched into evening and a beautiful connection. Scott shared his ‘After the Dance’ mix which I had no idea he’d created – it was like a deep serendipity in my invitation for him to come play – so together with Finn Rees, the three of us jammed on it and created this ‘Raw Silk Edit’ in a collaborative take.”
